Last night, we had the privilege to be nominated for and attend the British Business Awards 2024. The awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of British small and medium-sized businesses. The awards were also an opportunity to spotlight remarkable stories that define the very best of the British business landscape.
Hosted in Picturehouse Central (Piccadilly Circus, London), the event brought together a diverse range of businesses. A record-breaking 750+ entries were made for this year’s awards and 188 companies were nominated. In total, there were 15 categories such as Black, Asian, Ethnic Minority Business of the Year to Women-led Business of the Year, showcasing the impressive entrepreneurial talent across Britain.
The winner is…
Oli Barrett was the compere for the evening. As an entrepreneur, Oli has co-founded numerous companies including Tenner, Volunteer It Yourself, The Rainmakers, Cospa, and Clean and Cool. Oli is also an investor in small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The Sustainable Business Award of the Year, sponsored by Smart Energy GB, recognised Alchemie’s efforts in transforming the textile industry through sustainable practices. Oli Barrett announced the winner of the category stating:

This was particularly prevalent since the textile dyeing industry needs solutions that preserve our planet’s water resources and reduces our dependence on traditional energy sources. At Alchemie we’ve developed low-carbon, digital textile dyeing technologies that reduce energy consumption by up to 85% and wastewater by up to 95% - an essential step towards a more sustainable future.
More than an award
We are honoured and humbled, considering the record-breaking number of entries this year, to have won this award. This award not only reflects the hard work and dedication our staff show to make achievements like this possible, but also enhances the credibility of our technologies, in our mission to eliminate the environmental impact of the textile dyeing industry’s polluting processes.
