Dr. Alan Hudd Joins ITCC 2025 Panel on Advanced Materials and Future Fibres at the University of Leeds

Dr. Alan Hudd, CEO and Founder of Alchemie Technology, spoke at the inaugural International Textile and Colour Conference (ITCC) 2025 at the University of Leeds. Highlighting how Alchemie’s digital dyeing technology supports sustainability and stressed the importance of collaboration between industry and academia to create a cleaner, circular textile future.

ITCC 2025 and Dr HuddAlchemie Technology’s CEO and founder, Dr. Alan Hudd, was honoured to participate in the International Textile and Colour Conference (ITCC) 2025, held at the University of Leeds. This inaugural event was hosted by the School of Design and Leeds Institute of Textiles and Colour (LITAC).

This event gathered leading researchers, industry pioneers, policymakers, and NGOs from across the globe to explore strategies, technologies, and innovations aimed at sustainable development across the entire textile and colour supply chain.

A Holistic Approach to Sustainability

ITCC 2025 highlighted the need for integrated solutions spanning fibres, yarns, fabrics, garment manufacturing, and cutting-edge areas like robotics, digitalisation, AI, and waste management. The conference’s comprehensive agenda reflected the complexity and urgency of advancing sustainability, from raw material sourcing to final colour application and circular economy creation.

Dr. Hudd contributed his expertise on advanced digital dyeing technologies, sharing how Alchemie’s Endeavour™ system addresses sustainability challenges in textile colouration by dramatically reducing water use, chemical waste, and energy consumption without compromising quality or versatility.

Reimagining Sustainability from Fibre to Finish

The panel explored how next-generation fibres—such as bio-based synthetics and recycled performance yarns—offer promise but demand a parallel evolution in processing technologies to achieve their full environmental value.

Dr. Hudd highlighted a gap in the system:

“Brands are clear—they want proven technology. That’s exactly what we’ve built with Endeavour™, a precision digital dyeing system that eliminates wastewater, slashes energy use, and delivers consistent, high-quality results at industrial scale.”

Alchemie’s digital dyeing and finishing technology drastically reduces the footprint of fabric processing, making it possible to dye any fibre—including cotton, polyester and advanced synthetics—with less water and precision chemistry application.

Alchemie’s Ongoing Commitment

The conference also honoured the rich textile and colour science heritage of the University of Leeds, a centre of excellence with deep roots in dyeing chemistry and textile innovation. ITCC 2025 celebrated this legacy while looking forward to a future where digitalisation, robotics, and circularity converge to redefine how textiles are designed, produced, and recycled.

Alchemie Technology was proud to contribute not just as a commercial innovator but as a knowledge partner, helping shape a deeper understanding of how breakthrough technologies can support the sustainability journey. Alchemie aims to foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and shared progress—because true transformation in the textile industry depends not only on technology, but on the willingness to share, learn, and evolve together.
