Alchemie Technology Supports the 44th Cambridge Film Festival

For the third consecutive year, Alchemie Technology supported the Environmental Strand of the 44th Cambridge Film Festival, highlighting how sustainable innovations can address the issue of water pollution.

Alchemie Technology and Cambridge Film Festival 2025The Cambridge Film Festival is the second longest-running film festival in the UK and a celebrated event in the cultural calendar. This year, we were honoured to host our pre-screening event ahead of the UK premiere of “How Deep Is Your Love”, directed by Eleanor Mortimer.

Held at The Arts Picturehouse, we brought together local environmental organisations and film enthusiasts from across Cambridge to share their passion of sustainability and films. Guests in attendance included representatives from Flora and Fauna International - a Cambridge-based conservation charity focused on protecting threatened species and ecosystems around the world, as well as AstraZeneca, Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), the Cambridge Conservation Initiative, BirdLife International, Wellcome Sanger Institute, and the Global Sustainability Institute of ARU.

Across the Environmental Strand of the Festival, we celebrated the curated collection of films highlighting the environmental challenges of our time, showcasing real-world efforts to protect our planet, bringing about positive change. How Deep Is Your Love offers unique insights into real-world efforts to protect our planet and inspire positive change - aligning closely with Alchemie Technology’s mission to revolutionise textile dyeing through clean, low-carbon innovation.

We were delighted to share our commitment of environmental stewardship with the Cambridge community, as we presented the premiere of How Deep Is Your Love. This enlightening documentary dived deep into the complexity of water quality and biodiversity, resonating with Alchemie’s mission in championing sustainability in textile dyeing.

The screening was opened by Jack Fairhurst, Marketing & Customer Executive at Alchemie Technology, who spoke about the powerful role of film in inspiring environmental awareness and action:

“Films have the unique ability to capture our imaginations. To make us feel, to make us think, and to see a different perspective. Through films we can mirror the world around us and the environmental issues we face today. By highlighting water pollution locally and internationally we at Alchemie Technology aim to drastically reduce pollution from textile dyeing”.

With global temperatures and water scarcity on the rise, the importance of environmental preservation cannot be underestimated. The textile dyeing industry alone is one of the largest contributors to industrial wastewater. Posing significant risks to local ecosystems and communities downstream across the world.

We at Alchemie Technology are combatting these environmental pressures by redefining how textiles are dyed. Compared to traditional high-temperature, water-dependent processes, our low-carbon digital textile dyeing technologies ensure a dry, dyeing process. Capable of reducing freshwater use by up to 95%, while achieving high-quality sustainably dyed fabrics.

We also wish to give a special thank you to the festival organisers and staff at the Cambridge Film Festival for their amazing support, and congratulations on another inspiring and successful festival.
